Alfonso Thomas Wishes on a Pollard

What he said:

“At that point of the game, we normally have a guy called Pollard coming in for us, but unfortunately he was playing for the other team.”

Somerset captain Alfonso Thomas harps on his wishbone—in vain—pointing out the unavailability of key players like Kieron Pollard when they are also part of  IPL teams. Somerset succumbed to Mumbai Indians in the semis of the Champions League T20. Pollard turned out for the IPL side.

What he really meant:

“An arm and a leg (or a million or two) for Kieron Pollard in my squad.”

 What he definitely didn’t:

“Game-changers like Pollard are a dime-a-dozen.”

“Optimal fitness is not about sporting a six pack.They only look good on TV or the beach.”

Kieron Pollard does not feel the need to build up “mirror muscles” or a six-pack. He is a firm believer that fitness is what you need—it has to be practical, something you can use.

What he really meant:

“Endurance and agility—that’s what cricketers need.”

What he definitely didn’t:

“I love Kevin Pietersen’s washboard-like abs.”

IPL Pay Packets May Get Thinner and the IPL Leaner and Meaner

Pay packets in IPL4 will be much leaner than in the past three editions.

The simple reason is that supply now exceeds demand.

With the reduction in the no. of IPL teams to eight and Kochi showing no signs of having their house in order for the 6 pm deadline on  Wednesday, 20th October 2010, IPL4 will be a much leaner, much meaner tournament.
