IPL franchisees demand a say in appointment of curators (Satire)

There are more rumbles within the IPL.

The franchisees are not all pleased with the auctions. Though teams have largely grabbed the players they short-listed, the team owners feel that they should have a say in the appointment of curators and groundsmen especially at their home venues.

“If the IPL teams can have an entirely new look every three years, why should we not be entitled to chose the pitch curators?”

“Surely, there is a difference in the quality of curators across the country.”

“Also, we would welcome having a staff of four curators per ground. Out of these, two could be foreign recruits.”

“Maybe, we can learn how to prepare  more pace-friendly wickets. The curators, too, would receive more than their money’s worth in an IPL auction.”

The above are excerpts of a joint  letter sent to the IPL governing council  by team owners.

The IPL governing council is considering the feasibility of the recommendations. Issues of overlap of authority with state associations have to be addressed.

Cricket Australia is an interested party. If the proposals bear fruition, they would consider doing the same in the Big Bash Down Under.

Indian cricket will truly go places, in more ways than one.

Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.
